Kuwait City, August 1: The Kuwait military claimed on Friday that it intercepted drones that had entered its airspace. These enemy drones were reportedly targeting military installations. The military stated that debris from the drones caused damage in some areas.
The Kuwait Armed Forces announced on the social media platform ‘X’ that they detected and shot down the enemy drones early in the morning. According to the military, these drones were aimed at several critical and military sites.
According to the Xinhua news agency, the military reported that while the debris from the drones caused property damage in some locations, there were no reports of casualties. The military attributed these attacks to Iran. However, they did not disclose how many drones were shot down, which sites were targeted, or the extent of the damage.
This incident occurred after a brief period of calm, as airstrikes between the United States and Iran resumed. Additionally, a new front has emerged in the Red Sea region involving Yemen’s Houthi rebels and Saudi Arabia. The Kuwaiti military noted that a person was killed in northern Kuwait due to an Iranian attack on Thursday.
The Kuwaiti Armed Forces and the Chinese embassy in Kuwait reported that a Nepalese driver, working for a subcontractor of a Chinese company in the area, lost his life in the attack. The company’s property also sustained damage. The embassy confirmed that no Chinese nationals were injured or killed in this incident.
On Thursday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that its fighters attacked the U.S. Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
According to the Sepah News Agency, this attack destroyed two drone hangars and a fuel tank used for aircraft and military helicopters, which caught fire.
Last week, the IRGC claimed that its forces completely destroyed a ‘very large’ ammunition depot at the Ali Al Salem Air Base using advanced kamikaze drones. The IRGC stated that their attack caused damage to facilities associated with U.S. soldiers at the base, resulting in some casualties.
