Kumaraswamy Accuses Karnataka Congress of Misusing State Resources for Election Campaigns

Bengaluru, June 22: Central Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy made serious allegations against the Karnataka Congress government on Monday. He claimed that the party is utilizing state resources for election campaigns across the country.

Commenting on the proposed expansion of the Karnataka cabinet, Kumaraswamy alleged that a ‘management quota’ system has been implemented in the ministerial appointment process.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he asserted that there is intense lobbying among candidates aspiring for ministerial positions in the cabinet led by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. He accused that positions are being secured through ‘management quota’ or ‘payment quota’.

The central minister further alleged that bribes are being solicited from candidates for ministerial roles. He claimed to have received information that D.K. Shivakumar is telling legislators that the money is to be given to the high command. It appears that five percent of the seats are reserved under the ‘management quota’, while 95 percent are reserved under the ‘payment quota’.

In a humorous tone, Kumaraswamy remarked that only those who can secure such ‘paying seats’ will be eligible for ministerial positions. He added that this might be the reason for the delay in cabinet expansion.

Drawing a comparison to admissions in professional courses, Kumaraswamy stated that he has heard about government and management quota seats in professional education. However, a new arrangement has emerged for cabinet appointments in Karnataka – a high command quota and a management quota. If anyone wants to become a minister, they must clearly pay. Allegations have surfaced that donations are being collected without any restrictions.

Kumaraswamy further claimed that Chief Minister Shivakumar has stated that they will make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister and alleged that Karnataka’s resources are being used for election campaigns nationwide.
