Kiren Rijiju Criticizes Rahul Gandhi Over Great Nicobar Project

New Delhi, June 21: Amidst opposition to the Great Nicobar Project, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju launched a strong attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Rijiju accused Gandhi of attempting to sabotage the project, stating that his actions were entirely inappropriate.

Speaking at the ‘Developed India’ conference in Sri Vijaypuram on Sunday, Rijiju highlighted the achievements of the central government and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He remarked, “Prime Minister Modi has a grand vision for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. We are all working at our levels to realize this vision.”

Rijiju emphasized the unique beauty of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which host diverse wildlife and marine life. He noted that laws are in place to preserve the environment while ensuring development occurs without harming the ecosystem. The Great Nicobar Project was conceived with security in mind, and Rijiju pointed out the immense potential for trade in the region. He asserted that the new project would bring about significant economic transformation.

During his address, Rijiju also targeted the Congress party, stating, “Some people are troubled by India’s development. We anticipated this reaction.” Without naming Rahul Gandhi directly, he said, “While I dove here to appreciate the inner beauty, wildlife, and life of this area, another individual (Rahul Gandhi) came to take pictures aimed at destroying the project. This is completely unacceptable, and such actions should not occur in our country.”

Continuing his speech, Rijiju stressed, “This is not a matter for jokes. We must take this seriously and envision a ‘Developed India’ alongside a ‘Developed Andaman and Nicobar.’” He also called for quality tourists and responsible citizens to visit the islands, urging that those who create chaos and litter should stay away.

Rijiju appealed to keep the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as one of the most beautiful places in the world, emphasizing the need for development while preserving its core values.
