Mumbai, May 24: Singer Khan Saab has openly discussed the enduring popularity of classic tunes. He believes that timeless songs resonate deeply with the younger generation because they possess a soul that transcends time.
Khan Saab asserts that old melodies touch the youth due to their genuine emotions and everlasting music. According to him, good music crosses temporal boundaries and connects with every generation.
In a special interview, Khan Saab stated, “The music of past generations has an eternal essence. Whether it’s Mohammed Rafi or Lata Ji, their era produced melodies that never age. Such music can never fade away.”
He further noted that trends change over time. Today’s music will also become old one day, and new styles will emerge, but the true essence of music will remain the same. Khan Saab illustrated this by saying, “In our industry, only the plating changes; the ingredients stay the same.”
Khan Saab particularly praised Sufi music, stating, “One thing that will never die in our industry is Sufi music. It will always remain alive.”
When asked about the song “Aari Aari,” originally a massive hit by Bombay Rockers and deeply connected to people’s memories, he was questioned about the pressure he felt while recreating it for “Dhurandhar.” Khan Saab expressed that he felt honored rather than pressured. He explained, “When the team approached me, I focused on understanding the song’s composition and feel. I have great respect and love for Bombay Rockers.”
Khan Saab mentioned that he was not very familiar with the song before the film. During the recording, singer Shashwat informed him that his Punjabi folk touch was perfect for this composition and suggested creating a scratch version.
Khan Saab said, “I recorded it very quickly. Shashwat Bhai guided me line by line, and everything came together very naturally in just a few minutes.”
