
Thiruvananthapuram, April 8: Voting for the Kerala Assembly elections, which will fill 140 seats, is scheduled for April 9. Polling will take place from 7 AM to 6 PM.
A total of 2.7 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots, including 33 million men, 39 million women, and 273 transgender individuals. Notably, over 2.4 million expatriate voters will participate, highlighting the diversity and reach of this democratic process.
Across the state, 30,495 polling stations have been established, including 24 auxiliary booths for efficient voting management. Special arrangements have been made, with 352 polling stations operated entirely by women and 37 stations managed by persons with disabilities.
All major political leaders have shared their voting times and locations with the media, promoting their respective parties. AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal will vote in Alappuzha at 8:30 AM, while KPCC President Suni Joseph will cast his vote in Kannur at 7 AM.
Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan will also vote in Paravur at 7 AM. Veteran leader and former Chief Minister A.K. Antony, along with former Congress President M.M. Hassan, will vote in Thiruvananthapuram in the morning.
Senior Congress MLA Ramesh Chennithala will vote in Alappuzha district, while Shashi Tharoor will participate in the capital. On the left front, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI(M) State Secretary M.V. Govindan, and Minister Kadanapally Ramachandran will vote in Kannur.
Prominent film personalities, including Mammootty in Kochi and Jagdish in Thiruvananthapuram, will also be part of the voting process. Left leaders are confident about Vijayan’s historic third term, while veteran Congress leaders are optimistic about making significant gains. The BJP-led NDA is also hopeful of not only opening its account but winning several seats.
