Bengaluru, March 27: Karnataka’s Home Minister G. Parameshwara announced on Friday that a college professor accused of proposing to a student in a classroom has been dismissed from his position. Parameshwara, who also owns the medical college in question, stated that dragging his name into the controversy is unjust.
The incident occurred at a private medical college located on the outskirts of Bengaluru, where students reportedly attacked the professor. Allegations arose that he proposed to a female student during a lecture, leading to significant unrest. Parameshwara expressed frustration over being blamed for every incident at his college.
He questioned, “If something happens at my college, why is my name involved? Does nothing happen at other colleges? Should the Home Minister be held accountable for everything?”
Parameshwara emphasized that he operates within the law. He criticized the media for its sensationalism and assured that the college administration would manage the situation. The professor was hired for his qualifications, and if any misconduct is proven, disciplinary action or termination would follow.
According to reports, the professor has already been dismissed from the college. “What more is there to say?” Parameshwara remarked.
On Thursday, police reported that students allegedly attacked the professor at the private medical college. The administration is taking the matter seriously, especially since the professor and the student belong to different communities.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Nelamangala rural police station. Authorities have begun searching for the accused. A video of the incident has also gone viral.
Police stated that the proposal took place during class. The professor allegedly offered the student chocolates and expressed his feelings in front of the entire class. The student immediately objected and questioned him in the classroom. The situation escalated when she struck him with her sandal.
