
Udupi, February 26: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Wednesday that vacant positions in various government departments will be filled in a phased manner.
Speaking to reporters in Karakala, he emphasized the government’s commitment to providing employment opportunities and confirmed that the recruitment process will commence soon.
In response to rising incidents of elephant attacks in the Chikkamagaluru region, the Chief Minister noted that the increasing populations of elephants, leopards, and tigers have led to heightened human-wildlife conflict. He stated that measures are being taken to construct large barricades along forest boundaries to prevent wild animals from entering human settlements.
Addressing concerns regarding the Shivamogga student murder case and the consumption of cannabis among minors, Siddaramaiah asserted that the government is dedicated to completely curbing the use of cannabis and other narcotics.
When questioned about an incident involving students at Azim Premji University, he assured that strict action would be taken against any organization acting against the law.
Regarding Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s statements on guarantee schemes, Siddaramaiah mentioned that despite an annual expenditure of ₹52,000 crores on these schemes, development work continues. He added that a total of ₹12 lakh crores has been spent on guarantee schemes to date.
In response to inquiries about the approval of the Agumbe Tunnel project, he stated that discussions with environmentalists will be held, and appropriate steps will be taken regarding permissions.
On the topic of the Parashurama Theme Park project in Karakala, he indicated that the project will be completed soon.
Discussing alleged irregularities at the Brahmavar sugar factory, Siddaramaiah confirmed that an investigation into the scrap sale case will be conducted.
When asked about the aspirations of legislators to become ministers, he remarked that it is not wrong for legislators to aspire to ministerial positions. However, he also noted that a decision has been made not to appoint first-time legislators as ministers.
