Kanpur Police Arrest Two Suspects in Rape Case Following Encounter

Kanpur, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, police have apprehended two suspects linked to a rape case following an encounter on September 10. One of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound and has been hospitalized.

Authorities reported that after being shot, one suspect fell to the ground, allowing police to capture him. The other suspect was also arrested at the scene. The individuals have been identified as Anil and Kalika, both residents of Katehthi. Anil was injured during the encounter and is receiving treatment at a local hospital.

According to officials, the successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shraddha Narendra Pandey. During the encounter, police seized a country-made firearm (315 bore) along with ammunition from the suspects.

On Wednesday, a complaint was filed at the Gajner police station by a man who alleged that two individuals from the village had raped his minor daughter. Consequently, a case was registered under relevant sections of the law. The following morning, police received a tip-off indicating that both suspects were attempting to flee.

Officials stated that after receiving this information, the Gajner police team attempted to arrest the suspects. When approached, the suspects attempted to escape and opened fire on the police. In the ensuing exchange, Anil was shot in the leg.

Anil is currently being treated at a Community Health Centre, while the police are continuing their investigation and further actions regarding the case.
