Young Man Arrested for Social Media Stunt Involving SSB Camp Blast

Maharajganj, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : A shocking incident unfolded in Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, on October 7, when a young man took extreme measures to gain social media fame. In a reckless act, he created and shared a video depicting a blast at a camp of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), a security agency stationed at the India-Nepal border, using artificial intelligence.

As the incendiary video quickly went viral, police and security agencies sprang into action. Recognizing the potential threat to public safety, a police team initiated digital surveillance and swiftly apprehended the suspect, identified as Fayaz Ahmed.

Law enforcement acted promptly, ensuring the offensive video was removed from the suspect’s account. Fayaz was taken into custody, and authorities have filed charges against him, forwarding the case for further legal proceedings. The police issued a stern warning, stating that those who disrupt public peace or disseminate misleading content for cheap popularity on social media will face serious consequences.

In a separate incident on the same day in Gujarat, the Ahmedabad Local Crime Branch arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly extorting ₹2.4 million from an elderly person through a honey trap scheme on Facebook. The suspect, Alpesh Solanki, from Botad district, was found in possession of ₹100,000 in cash, reportedly taken during the extortion attempt.

The case came to light on the night of October 5, when the Anandnagar police station received information about a gang that had blackmailed an elderly man and his son, forcing them to hand over money in a black bag. Following this, senior officials ordered immediate action, and a special operation was launched to identify and arrest the perpetrators. Under the leadership of Police Sub-Inspector H.D. Vaghela, teams from the Local Crime Branch conducted extensive patrols and vehicle checks along the SG Highway, leading to the arrest of Solanki, who was found hiding under the Karnavati Bridge with the cash.

The swift actions of law enforcement in both cases highlight the ongoing efforts to maintain public safety and order in the face of rising social media-related crimes.
