Mithun Chakraborty Appointed Cultural Advisor in West Bengal Government

Kolkata, October 7 (Daily Kiran) : The West Bengal government has appointed actor Mithun Chakraborty as an advisor to its Information and Cultural Affairs Department. This significant announcement was made through a notification issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms on October 6, 2026.

According to the notification, signed by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Agarwal, the Governor has granted Chakraborty the rank of cabinet minister for this role. His appointment is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice.

The government stated that this decision has been made in the public interest with the approval of the competent authority. A copy of the notification has also been sent to Chakraborty for necessary action.

Chakraborty’s appointment comes at a time when the West Bengal government is launching various initiatives in the cultural and information sectors. Known as ‘Mithun Da,’ he is one of the most beloved actors in West Bengal and across India. Beyond his film career, he has made substantial contributions to cultural and social causes.
