Mumbai, August 11: Actress Kanika Kapoor, who is making her Bollywood debut with the film ‘Batwara 1947’, is currently in the spotlight. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, this film tells the story of the 1947 partition of India and its impact on people’s lives during that era.
Alongside Kanika, the film features actors Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Shabana Azmi, and Abhimanyu Singh. Kanika is excited about the film and shared some cherished memories from the shooting experience. She recounted special moments with Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta that will always hold a special place in her heart.
In an interview, Kanika said, “While working on Rajveer’s debut film ‘Dono’, I had the opportunity to meet Sunny Deol. He always conducted himself with great humility. Meeting him and watching him work on set was a memorable experience for me.”
Recalling Sunny Deol’s performance, Kanika noted, “I remember having a small part in one or two scenes. I would sit and watch him act. The way he delivered his dialogues was captivating. When he spoke a line, the entire set would fall silent. After each take, people would applaud. Watching him act was an incredible experience.”
Kanika also shared an emotional memory from the shooting of ‘Batwara 1947’. She expressed, “Working on this film felt like a dream come true. There were many moments during the shoot that I will always remember, but one look test with Karan Deol became the most special for me.”
She explained, “On the day of the final look test with Karan, I was asked to perform an emotional scene before we started shooting. The special part was that Preity Zinta and Sunny Deol were also present on set that day. I was completely in character until the director called ‘cut’. As soon as the scene ended, I had tears in my eyes and was crying continuously. I was so immersed in my character that I had no idea what was happening behind the camera.”
Kanika continued, “Suddenly, I heard applause. Through my blurred vision, I saw people on set standing and clapping for me, including Preity Zinta. I couldn’t believe it; I quickly wiped my tears and saw that Preity Zinta was indeed praising my performance.”
She added, “That moment meant a lot to me. I hugged Preity Zinta, and she told me that I acted brilliantly. Her praise was especially significant because Preity Zinta has been my favorite actress since childhood. I have seen her in films like ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. She has been my role model for a long time. Hearing her compliment my acting was a huge deal for me.”
