Chennai, August 26: Politician and former IPS officer K. Annamalai is set to launch a month-long awareness campaign focused on women’s safety across Tamil Nadu in September. This initiative will be conducted under the banner of Annamalai’s organization, ‘We the Leaders.’
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the challenges women face and the importance of creating safe spaces for them. Volunteers associated with the organization are expected to conduct awareness programs and community-level activities throughout the state during this month.
After leaving the BJP, Annamalai established ‘We the Leaders’ and is reportedly preparing to form a new political party. Before formally announcing his political plans, he is engaging in various social awareness initiatives with the help of the organization’s volunteers.
These campaigns are viewed as efforts to connect with the people of Tamil Nadu and increase the grassroots presence of his organization. Each month, ‘We the Leaders’ focuses on a specific social issue and conducts related public relations activities.
In July, Annamalai led a significant campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The goal was to inform youth and families about the increasing threats posed by drugs and the need for community involvement in preventing addiction.
During August, the organization shifted its focus to environmental conservation. Volunteers participated in cleaning beaches, rivers, and other water bodies across the state. According to the organization, approximately 190 tons of waste have been removed as part of this campaign.
‘We the Leaders’ has also conducted a large-scale tree plantation drive. The organization claims to have planted around seven lakh saplings in various parts of Tamil Nadu. This initiative aims to enhance greenery and encourage public participation in environmental conservation.
