Lucknow, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : In a pointed critique, Mayawati, the national president of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), has launched a fierce attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and its leader Akhilesh Yadav in light of the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Mayawati raised concerns about the color of the SP’s ‘PDA Rath,’ suggesting it reflects more of the BJP-RSS saffron hue than the traditional red associated with the SP. She questioned whether this shift indicates a desperate attempt to attract votes or if Akhilesh’s confidence in securing Muslim votes has waned.
In a series of posts on social media, Mayawati stated, “The SP’s promoted ‘PDA Rath’ appears to be more influenced by the RSS/BJP’s saffron color than its own red. This raises questions about whether this is a case of changing colors for electoral gain or a sign that Akhilesh’s trust in winning over Muslim voters is diminishing.”
She pointed out that the Muslim community in Uttar Pradesh is increasingly aware that despite their substantial support in previous elections, the SP failed to prevent the BJP from coming to power. Mayawati claimed this realization is leading some segments of the Muslim community to reconsider their allegiance and shift towards the BSP.
“Muslims are acutely aware of the harsh reality that despite their overwhelming support in the last elections, the SP could not stop the BJP from forming a government. Why should they continue to waste their votes on a party that has repeatedly let them down?” she argued.
Mayawati emphasized that the BSP has a proven track record in governance, particularly in maintaining law and order, and promoting public welfare and development. She asserted that the state needs a government that prioritizes the interests and welfare of all communities.
“BSP has repeatedly demonstrated its capability in establishing law and order while ensuring public welfare and development. This is what Uttar Pradesh desperately needs,” she said.
Additionally, Mayawati criticized Akhilesh for the political utilization of the ‘PDA.’ She urged the SP to clarify the true nature of its ‘PDA’ to the public.
She accused the SP of altering its interpretation of ‘PDA’ based on electoral interests. “The SP needs to explain what the reality of their ‘PDA’ is, as they have previously labeled it as ‘backward, Dalit’ at one point, and ‘Pandit’ at another. They even attempted to present themselves as ‘Ambedkarite’ by donning BSP’s blue attire, only to be quickly rejected as fake Ambedkarites,” she remarked.
In contrast, Mayawati described her party as an Ambedkarite organization committed to the principle of ‘Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay,’ advocating for bread, employment, dignity, and self-respect for all societal classes. She asserted that the BSP enjoys respect across all communities for its inclusive policies.
