Qatar Facilitates Renewed Talks Between the U.S. and Iran

Doha, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Qatar is actively working to restart negotiations between the United States and Iran. According to Majid Al Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, recent statements from U.S. officials suggest a willingness in Washington to reach an agreement.

During the Qatar Economic Forum in New York, Al Ansari explained that discussions have been ongoing with both Washington and Tehran over the past few weeks. The aim is to explore various proposals and ideas to facilitate the resumption of talks between the two nations.

“Our mediation team is collaborating with both Tehran and the U.S. to determine how to effectively restart dialogue. We have seen numerous suggestions and ideas emerge from both sides,” he stated.

Al Ansari emphasized that Qatar’s efforts are focused on bridging the gap between the two parties and finding the right moment to move forward. He noted that many U.S. officials have publicly expressed a desire for a resolution to the ongoing conflict.

According to the Xinhua news agency, Al Ansari remarked that any agreement should aim to bring stability to the region. Additionally, there should be international consensus on securing crucial maritime routes, including the Strait of Hormuz. He highlighted two main objectives: to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and to prevent war.

Meanwhile, Iran’s main military command, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, issued a warning on Sunday. They stated that any “mistake” by the U.S. or certain Middle Eastern countries could lead to “painful” attacks.

In a statement released by Iranian media, the headquarters claimed to possess intelligence suggesting that a recent meeting in Europe led Washington to decide to initiate renewed actions against Tehran, with the support of some regional nations.

The headquarters warned that should the U.S. take any steps against Iran, all its military bases and interests in the region would be targeted. The statement declared that such attacks would be “continuous, effective, and painful, with no limits or concessions.”

The Iranian military command also cautioned other regional countries. It stated that if they continued their “dual policy” regarding Iran and supported the U.S.’s alleged “aggressive actions,” they should not expect any “restraint or leniency” from Iran’s powerful armed forces.
