Washington, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he and U.S. President Donald Trump have agreed to meet in New York. Zelensky expressed that Ukraine is prepared to take serious steps towards peace in collaboration with the American team.
Following their conversation, Zelensky shared on the social media platform X, “We have agreed to meet in New York, and this meeting could change a lot. There is an atmosphere conducive to advancing diplomatically.”
However, Zelensky did not disclose the date of the meeting or the specific issues that the two leaders aim to address. While he mentioned topics under discussion, he did not announce any timelines for a peace agreement or the implementation of any steps.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of his dialogue with Trump, noting that they discussed several critical issues in detail. He reiterated that achieving peace is Ukraine’s top priority.
“Our first priority is to move towards peace,” he stated.
The Ukrainian leader mentioned that potential measures to reduce tensions are being considered, alongside issues of energy security, food security, and the safety of individuals. Yet, he did not specify any particular proposals or how they would be implemented on the ground.
Zelensky indicated that suggestions exist for resolving fundamental security issues, including energy and food security. He suggested that Ukraine is ready to take further steps and continues to work with U.S. officials.
“We are working with the American team and are indeed prepared to take serious steps,” he said.
However, he did not clarify what these steps would entail or whether the other side would need to reciprocate. His post also did not mention any commitments from Russia.
Zelensky thanked Trump for the visit of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Kyiv, highlighting that it provided an opportunity for both American representatives to gain firsthand insight into Ukraine’s current situation.
He also expressed gratitude to Trump for signing a law he referred to as the “Lindsey Graham Bill.”
In closing, Zelensky stated, “We all agree that there should be peace. Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine! Thank you to everyone who is helping!”
