New Delhi, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is set to visit Punjab on Monday as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ‘Drug-Free Punjab Campaign.’ This initiative aims to combat substance abuse in the region.
During his visit, Chouhan will first pay his respects at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. He will then inaugurate the campaign at Dhana Mandi, located at Ravi Dasia Chowk in Talwandi Sabo, at 10:00 AM.
Chouhan is also scheduled to address a public gathering in Maisarkhana and engage directly with farmers and women from self-help groups in Bathinda. His participation comes as the four-day campaign reaches its final stages, culminating in Bathinda, where the BJP’s state-wide outreach program will conclude.
The BJP launched the extensive ‘Drug-Free Punjab Campaign’ on September 18, which has traversed various parts of Punjab. The first leg of the journey was flagged off by BJP National President Nitin Naveen from the Unity Site in Madhopur, Pathankot. The second leg commenced from Fatehgarh Sahib on September 19, led by Delhi leader Rekha Gupta, while the third leg started from Fazilka near the Sadki border, inaugurated by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal.
This four-day initiative began in Pathankot and will wrap up in Bathinda, covering several key districts in the state. The campaign focuses on raising awareness about the critical issue of drug abuse, which has sparked significant political discourse in Punjab. Through this initiative, the BJP aims to highlight the adverse effects of drugs and present its vision and proposed plans for a drug-free Punjab.
The involvement of senior BJP leaders, including Chouhan, is expected to lend political momentum to the campaign and strengthen the party’s organizational network and outreach across the state.
