JP Nadda Participates in Cleanliness Drive in Shimla, Pays Tribute to Ambedkar

Shimla, June 13: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda (JP Nadda) participated in a cleanliness drive held at Chora Maidan during his visit to Shimla on Saturday morning. He cleaned the statue of Bharat Ratna and Constitution architect B.R. Ambedkar, watered the area around the statue, and later paid tribute by offering flowers.

During a media interaction, Nadda emphasized that Mahatma Gandhi highlighted the importance of cleanliness during the country’s freedom struggle and sought to connect it with public participation. He noted that in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Swachh Bharat’ (Clean India) campaign, transforming it into a widespread public movement. As a result, awareness about cleanliness has increased across the nation, with citizens actively participating in the initiative.

Nadda remarked that there has been a positive change in society regarding cleanliness. He mentioned that whenever he has the opportunity to attend public events, he consistently participates in cleanliness drives to raise awareness among people.

He expressed that cleaning the statue of B.R. Ambedkar during his Shimla visit and participating in the cleanliness drive was a special occasion for him. He stated that the thoughts and contributions of Ambedkar inspire citizens, and honoring him is a duty for every citizen.

The Union Minister reiterated that the cleanliness campaign is not a limited-time program but a continuous public movement that needs to be sustained. He urged every citizen to take responsibility for making the country clean and healthy and to incorporate cleanliness into their daily lifestyle. He expressed confidence that the commitment to a clean India would be strengthened through public participation.
