Mohali, August 30: Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon, the Punjab state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), praised Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program. He highlighted that the Prime Minister addressed critical issues such as the drug problem in Punjab, along with concerns affecting women, farmers, and the underprivileged.
During a media interaction in Mohali, Dhillon emphasized the severity of the drug issue in Punjab, stating that it is impacting the state’s social fabric. He recounted a woman’s heartbreaking story about her five children falling victim to addiction. Dhillon criticized the Punjab government for failing to tackle the drug crisis, declaring that the state is drowning in drugs. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for bringing attention to this pressing issue.
Targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, Dhillon accused them of not fulfilling their electoral promises. He pointed out that the state’s debt has increased, and the drug problem remains unresolved. He also raised concerns about illegal mining, questioning the government’s claim of generating ₹20,000 crore in revenue, while only ₹600 crore was reported. “Where did the rest of the money go? Did Arvind Kejriwal take it to Delhi?” he asked.
Responding to speculation about a potential alliance between the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal for the upcoming assembly elections, Dhillon clarified that no coalition talks are currently underway. He confirmed that the BJP is preparing to contest all 117 assembly seats in Punjab.
Dhillon asserted that the party has completed its electoral preparations and believes the public is ready for change. He expressed confidence that the BJP will perform strongly in the upcoming assembly elections.
