Ranchi, August 14: Manoj Pandey, spokesperson for the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has dismissed calls to cancel the CGL exam and demands for a CBI investigation. He stated that the state government does not have the authority to annul the exam, as it is under the oversight of the Supreme Court and High Court. Pandey emphasized that while students have the right to protest, they must also recognize the motives of the forces behind these movements.
Pandey remarked, “Students need to seriously understand the issues where the state government lacks authority. The state cannot cancel the CGL exam because it is monitored by the Supreme Court and High Court, making it unlikely. Regarding the CBI investigation, why should there be one? Sanjeev Mukhiya was released, and the investigation into the NEET scam was conducted by the CID, not the CBI. The CBI is already investigating the first and second exams of the JPSC. What was the outcome?”
He questioned how allegations of misconduct could be made when no charge sheet has been filed and no one has been declared guilty. “The investigation is ongoing. The government cannot approach the court. If that’s the case, students or a delegation can go to court,” he added.
Addressing the barricading outside the Chief Minister‘s residence, Pandey stated, “The Chief Minister is always under security. How does the Prime Minister manage? Barricading is the responsibility of the district administration. Decisions are made based on the threats to security. This is not just a government or party issue. Students have the right to protest, and if you believe in democracy, you must accept movements. We come from a party that supports protests. We do not view protests negatively. However, students need to understand the intentions of the active forces behind these movements.”
Criticizing the BJP, he said, “These students will be shot at Jantar Mantar. One of their MPs will call them gutter generation, and others will label them as wolves, terrorists, or Pakistanis. Today, tears are shed for the same students. They need to understand this.”
Regarding the use of batons and pellet guns during the CJP protest, he remarked, “This government makes a lot of noise but failed to answer two questions in the assembly. The Union Home Minister was absent. Such a thing has rarely happened in history. There were only two questions: Who fired the pellet guns and batons? And under whose orders were they used? If it was your order, take responsibility; if not, then explain yourselves.”
