New Delhi, July 29: During a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, Union Minister Jitendra Singh sharply responded to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s accusations. He stated that Gandhi was making serious allegations without verifying the facts and lacked a fundamental understanding of administrative processes.
Singh expressed disappointment at the opposition’s conduct during such an important legislative discussion. He emphasized that this law reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to ensuring fairness in public examinations, yet the opposition is politicizing the issue instead of offering constructive suggestions.
“The opposition’s behavior is extremely disheartening. Instead of engaging in meaningful discussions and providing suggestions on such a crucial bill, they are indulging in politics,” Singh remarked.
The Union Minister criticized the language used by Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha, deeming it inappropriate and not in line with the dignity of the House.
“I am surprised by the behavior of the opposition leader. The language used in Parliament was not acceptable. If a member wants to make comments about themselves, they can do so outside Parliament, but such language has no place within the House,” Singh stated.
He noted that the position of the opposition leader is highly respectable and it is shocking that Rahul Gandhi appears to lack basic knowledge of parliamentary decorum. Singh questioned whether Gandhi’s comments were directed at students if they were not aimed at any individual. “If such words are used for the students of the country, nothing could be more unfortunate,” he added.
Rejecting Rahul Gandhi’s allegations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding orders for action against students, Singh pointed out that no evidence was provided to support this claim.
“When Rahul Gandhi says that Amit Shah ordered action against students, he has not provided any proof. To clarify, no minister can issue such orders. Such decisions are made by magistrates, district magistrates (DM), or sub-divisional magistrates (SDM). This is a basic rule of administrative procedure, but it seems he is unaware of it,” Singh explained.
The Union Minister also dismissed other accusations made by Rahul Gandhi, stating that the incident in question did not involve gunfire, but rather the use of tear gas.
“He also claimed that the Home Minister travels with a convoy of 30 vehicles, which indicates a miscalculation on his part. He alleged that the Home Minister was abroad, but there is no evidence for that. Amit Shah has not traveled abroad. Making such allegations without facts and evidence is not befitting the dignity of the opposition leader’s position,” Singh concluded.
During the discussion on the Anti-Paper Leak Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha, Jitendra Singh urged the opposition to engage in fact-based debates and refrain from politicizing serious legislative matters.
