Jharkhand Police Rescues Six Abducted Villagers After Encounter

Ranchi, June 20: In a dramatic turn of events, police in Jharkhand’s Chatra district successfully rescued six villagers who had been abducted for ransom late Friday night in the Hadgadi forest area. The kidnappers identified themselves as members of the banned organization MCC.

On June 18, at around 10:30 PM, authorities received information about the abduction of six villagers on the route from Tuntilawa to Hesatu, deep within the Hadgadi forest. The criminals demanded a ransom of one lakh rupees for the release of the hostages. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the Chatra Superintendent of Police formed a specialized team to handle the case.

As the police team entered the forest during the search operation, the criminals opened fire on them. The police retaliated, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. Fearing the police response, the abductors abandoned their captives and fled the scene. The police acted swiftly, ensuring the safe rescue of all six villagers.

Subsequently, police cordoned off the area and apprehended five out of the six criminals involved in the incident. Among those arrested were Ramesh Kumar Ganjhu and Satish Kumar Ganjhu, both residents of Tandwa. Authorities recovered three country-made firearms, a lighter resembling a pistol, a large knife, and three mobile phones stolen from the victims.

A case has been registered at the Simaria police station under serious charges and the Arms Act, with further investigations underway.

SDPO Shubham Nagargoje reported that on June 18, information was received regarding the abduction of six individuals, including four men and two women. The accused had demanded a ransom of one lakh rupees. Following the Superintendent of Police’s orders, a raiding team was formed. During the search in the forest, the criminals fired upon the police, who returned fire.

The SDPO confirmed that due to the police’s counteraction, the abductors fled, leaving the hostages behind. All were brought safely to the police station, and five of the six suspects have been arrested.
