New Delhi, June 23: A deeply disturbing incident has emerged in the capital, where a cab driver has been arrested for the rape and murder of an 11-year-old girl. The police acted swiftly, apprehending the suspect shortly after the crime was reported.
According to police reports, the girl was sleeping on the pavement with her family around 5 AM on Monday when the cab driver abducted her. Upon receiving the alert, the Delhi police formed specialized teams to locate the child and quickly arrested the driver. Following his arrest, the suspect confessed to the crime, revealing that he had disposed of the girl’s body along the Faridabad-Gurugram road. The police have since recovered the body and charged the driver with kidnapping, rape, and murder.
In a separate incident in the capital, a 36-year-old social media influencer has accused a man of raping her under the pretext of filming a video. Based on her complaint, an FIR was filed at the Burari police station on June 10, and a senior police officer confirmed that an investigation is underway.
The victim, a resident of Burari, stated that she met the accused through a social media platform in 2022. She alleges that in September of that year, he invited her to a local hotel under the guise of creating social media reels, where he sexually assaulted her.
The woman further claimed that the accused later blackmailed her and physically assaulted her multiple times. After discovering that his real name differed from the identity he provided, she distanced herself from him. Subsequently, she reported receiving threats from the accused’s brother-in-law and another relative.
In a related case, five men in Begusarai, Bihar, allegedly gang-raped a 28-year-old married woman. The assailants reportedly inflicted extreme brutality, inserting a live cartridge, a stone, and a wooden stick into her private parts.
Although this incident occurred on the night of June 11, medical confirmation was obtained during an investigation on Thursday. The victim is currently receiving treatment at the sadar hospital. In her court statement, she recounted that she was abducted while stepping outside to relieve herself, dragged to a secluded area, bound with ropes, and assaulted.
