Jharkhand Movement Activists Honored on Chatra District Foundation Day

Chatra, May 29: On the occasion of Chatra district’s foundation day in Jharkhand, a heartfelt tribute was paid to activists who significantly contributed to the statehood movement. A total of 851 activists were honored during the event.

The ceremony took place at the District Mineral Foundation Trust and Training Hall. Each of the 851 activists received shawls, mementos, and certificates of appreciation for their contributions.

District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Ravi Anand presided over the event, which was attended by several dignitaries, including Kali Charan Singh, Member of Parliament for Chatra, MLA Janardan Paswan, and District Council Chairperson Mamta Kumari.

The ceremony commenced with the lighting of lamps and floral tributes to the inspiring figures of the Jharkhand movement, such as Bhagwan Birsa Munda and Disho Guru Shibu Soren. Among the honorees, 122 activists were recognized at the district level, while 729 were honored at the block level, totaling 851 across the district.

During the program, many activists shared their struggles, sacrifices, and experiences from the Jharkhand statehood movement. Their stories provided emotional insights into various aspects of the movement, deeply resonating with the attendees.

In his address, Deputy Commissioner Ravi Anand noted that Chatra district was established on May 29, 1991, after being separated from Hazaribagh district. He stated, “The foundation day serves as a reminder of the district’s development journey, achievements, and the commitment of its citizens. We will always honor the struggles, sacrifices, and dedication of the activists who fought for the creation of Jharkhand. Thanks to their hard work and sacrifices, we now live in a separate Jharkhand state.”

MP Kali Charan Singh and MLA Janardan Paswan also paid tribute to the activists, emphasizing that their inspiration should guide the new generation towards development. This event served as a means to connect the history of the Jharkhand movement with the younger generation and express respect for the activists.

Deputy Commissioner Ravi Anand pledged to organize even better programs in the future to immortalize the contributions of the activists. The presence of local representatives and dignitaries added dignity to the event.
