
Ranchi, June 15: The Jharkhand government has initiated a statewide awareness campaign aimed at making the state drug-free. Chief Minister Hemant Soren flagged off awareness vehicles from the Jharkhand Secretariat in Ranchi on Monday, sending them to various districts. These vehicles will educate the public, especially the youth, about the dangers of drug use, trafficking, and its adverse effects.
During the event, CM Hemant Soren emphasized that substance abuse not only affects an individual’s health but also endangers families and society as a whole. He stated that drug consumption harms a person’s physical, mental, economic, and social life, highlighting the need for both government and society to work together against this issue.
He pointed out that protecting the youth from the clutches of addiction is a priority for the state government. Substance abuse is increasingly becoming a serious challenge to the progress of families, communities, and the state. In response, the government is not only running awareness campaigns but is also taking continuous action to curb the illegal drug trade.
The Chief Minister urged the public to stay away from drugs and to inform their families, friends, and communities about the harmful consequences of substance abuse. He stressed that adopting a healthy and positive lifestyle is essential for freeing society from the drug problem. According to the state government, this campaign will reach villages, towns, and cities. The awareness vehicles will provide information on the harms of drug use, legal aspects, and preventive measures in various districts. The goal of the campaign is to engage youth in building a healthy society by keeping them away from drugs.
The event was attended by Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department Vandana Dadel, Director General of Police Tadasha Mishra, and several senior officials.
