Jerusalem, June 20: A ceasefire agreement has been reached between Israel and Hezbollah, according to Israeli officials on Friday.
Reports from Israel’s Channel 12 indicate that an official stated Israel will maintain its presence in the ‘security zone’ in southern Lebanon. The official warned that any attacks on Israel would be met with a response.
Ibrahim al-Moussawi, a member of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc ‘Loyalty to the Resistance,’ confirmed that the organization will adhere to the ceasefire agreement, provided Israel respects its terms.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel would not tolerate attacks on its soldiers or territory. He stated that Hezbollah would pay a “very heavy price” for the deaths of four soldiers in Lebanon on Thursday.
In a statement released on the social media platform X, Netanyahu expressed his condolences to the families of Lieutenant Colonel and three other brave soldiers from the 52nd Armored Corps. He wished for the swift recovery of those injured in the recent gunfire.
Netanyahu further emphasized that Hezbollah’s deadly attack constitutes a blatant violation of the ceasefire. He directed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to take strong action against Hezbollah.
According to reports, the IDF targeted over 80 locations and killed dozens of fighters. The IDF also struck Hezbollah command centers in the Bekaa Valley on Friday morning.
Netanyahu reviewed the situation with the defense minister and army chief, reiterating his clear directive: Israel will not tolerate any attacks on its soldiers or land, and Hezbollah will face severe consequences for such actions.
