Ranchi, August 14: The Jharkhand government is taking strict measures against fraud in medical, dental, and AYUSH college admissions. Officials have announced that any candidate found using fake or incorrect certificates will have their admission immediately revoked. Additionally, legal action will be initiated against them, including the filing of an FIR.
The Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare Department has introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) aimed at enhancing transparency in the admission process through NEET-UG and NEET-PG. This SOP includes online verification of candidates’ residency, caste, income, and disability certificates, with physical verification conducted when necessary.
An official note released by the department on Friday outlined these changes. Under the new system, high-level inspection committees have been formed at the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board level.
For MBBS, MD, and MS courses, the committee will consist of admission officers from RIMS and all government medical colleges, representatives from the health department, and special task officers from the board. Separate committees have also been established for BDS, MDS, and AYUSH courses. In addition to state-level inspections, institutional committees will be formed at RIMS Ranchi and relevant medical colleges, led by directors, principals, or deans, with superintendents and admission officers as members.
These committees will re-verify candidates’ original certificates. According to the SOP, the verification of caste, income, residency, and disability certificates will be conducted through the relevant government online portal. If any certificate is found suspicious during the online check, it will be forwarded to the district commissioner for physical verification. The district administration is required to provide a verification report within ten working days. Until the investigation is complete, candidates will receive only provisional admission.
Final admission will be confirmed only after the verification of certificates. The government has made it clear that if any certificate is found to be fake during the investigation, the principal of the respective college will immediately cancel the admission. Legal action will be taken against the candidate, including filing an FIR.
The new SOP also includes provisions for securely storing all digital and physical documents submitted during the admission process. This will allow for future re-verification of candidates’ certificates. The SOP will be applicable across all government and private medical, dental, homeopathic, Ayurvedic, and Unani colleges in the state, including RIMS Ranchi.
