Afghanistan, September 7 (Daily Kiran) : On Monday, September 7, 2026, a magnitude 4.1 earthquake shook Afghanistan at 5:36 AM local time. The National Center for Seismology reported that the quake’s epicenter was located 130 kilometers deep underground. Fortunately, there have been no reports of damage or injuries from this tremor.
Afghanistan has experienced a series of earthquakes recently. Over the past two months, residents have felt multiple quakes. In August, a more intense earthquake measuring 4.9 struck the eastern Nangarhar province, injuring 15 people due to its strong tremors.
According to Kabul Now, the earthquake occurred around 5:48 AM in the provincial capital, Jalalabad, as reported by Naqibullah Rahimi, a spokesperson for the Taliban’s public health department in Nangarhar. Local media outlet Tolo News confirmed that injured individuals, including women and children, were transported to the Nangarhar Regional Hospital for treatment.
The United States Geological Survey confirmed that the 4.9 magnitude quake was recorded at a depth of 10 kilometers (6 miles) and was centered approximately 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) northeast of Jalalabad.
Earlier, on June 27, Afghanistan experienced a powerful earthquake measuring 6.2, which was felt in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, and several other northern Indian states. The tremors were significant enough to be reported widely, highlighting the region’s seismic activity.
The National Center for Seismology, responsible for monitoring seismic activities, noted that the quake occurred at 7:04 PM local time and confirmed its epicenter in Afghanistan.
