Ranchi, August 18: The decision to cancel the JSSC-CGL and TDP exams in Jharkhand has sparked a wave of political statements. BJP leaders are calling it a significant victory for student protests and are reiterating their demand for a CBI investigation.
Senior BJP leader Babulal Marandi congratulated students who have been protesting at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi for the past 23 days. He stated that the students’ determination and unity forced the government to concede.
Marandi emphasized that the cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam marks a major victory for the students. He accused the Chief Minister, who previously dismissed the students’ allegations, of now being compelled to address their demands.
He raised concerns about the government’s refusal to order a CBI investigation, questioning its intentions. Marandi called for an impartial inquiry into the alleged job-selling scandal involving the Chief Minister’s friend Vinod Singh, former JSSC officials Neeraj Sinha, Sudhir Gupta, Prashant, and the alleged involvement of the Chief Minister’s residence.
Additionally, he demanded an investigation into the alleged irregularities in the JPSC exams, implicating Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu and the JMM district president of Giridih.
Marandi stated, “The cancellation of the exams is just the first step. A CBI investigation and strict action against the guilty will be the true victory of the students’ struggle.”
On the same issue, BJP state president Aditya Sahu noted that thousands of students have been protesting and on hunger strike for 23 days. He accused the government of selling jobs instead of providing employment over the past six years.
Sahu mentioned that the students’ primary demand was the cancellation of all exams conducted through TDP over the last six years. He claimed that the Hemant Soren government had to concede due to the pressure from the students.
He affirmed that the BJP stands with the students and emphasized the necessity of a CBI investigation. Sahu alleged that if an investigation occurs, many corrupt officials and responsible individuals will come under scrutiny.
Meanwhile, following the announcement of the exam cancellations, student leader Devendra Nath Mahto spoke with social activist Sonam Wangchuk via video call. In this media interaction, Wangchuk congratulated the protesting students.
Wangchuk stated, “Congratulations to all students. I am pleased that your hard work has paid off.” He extended his congratulations to both the students and the government.
Devendra Nath Mahto noted that the students fought their struggle under Wangchuk’s guidance and inspiration. He revealed that the government accepted their demands on the 16th day of their hunger strike and the 23rd day of their protest.
Mahto remarked, “This is a victory where no one has lost. It is a win for the students and the government, as the government also aims to do well. This is a victory for everyone.”
