Ranchi, August 6: Fire response times in several areas of Jharkhand are set to improve significantly. On Thursday, 58 new mini fire tenders equipped with mist technology were added to the state fire department’s fleet. Chief Minister Hemant Soren flagged off these vehicles for various districts across the state.
The government stated that the addition of these new vehicles will aid in quickly controlling fire incidents and providing relief to remote areas. The new fire tenders are smaller than traditional fire trucks, allowing them to navigate narrow city streets, densely populated areas, and rural regions with ease.
According to department officials, this technology is effective in controlling fires with less water. Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized the need to modernize fire services in line with changing times. He noted an increase in incidents such as gas cylinder explosions, short circuits, and fires in high-rise buildings. Therefore, a fire response system equipped with state-of-the-art resources and technology is essential. He added that providing better equipment and a safe working environment for firefighters, who risk their lives during disasters, is a government priority.
Director General of Fire Services and Home Guards, M.S. Bhatia, mentioned that this marks the beginning of the department’s modernization. In the future, advanced equipment such as hydraulic platforms, foam tenders, and articulating towers will be added to the fleet for rescue operations in tall buildings. He also highlighted a strong focus on training firefighters, enhancing safety equipment, and raising public awareness about fire safety. Several senior officials from the home, police, and administration departments were present at the ceremony.
