Salman Khan Expresses Grief Over Director Kuku Kohlis Passing, Aruna Irani Seen Emotional at Funeral

Mumbai, August 26: Veteran Hindi film director Kuku Kohli was laid to rest on Wednesday, leaving the film industry in mourning. Many celebrities, including actor Salman Khan, expressed their sorrow over his passing.

Salman Khan shared a heartfelt message on the social media platform X, stating, “Rest in peace, Kuku Ji. Aruna Ji, my condolences are with you in this difficult time. May God give you strength.”

Reports indicate that Kuku Kohli was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack two days prior. He passed away on Tuesday. His family includes his wife, actress Aruna Irani, and two daughters, Pooja and Karishma, from his first marriage to Rita Kohli.

During Kuku Kohli’s funeral in Mumbai, Aruna Irani appeared visibly emotional. Videos circulating on social media show her arriving at the cremation ground dressed in white, with people around her providing support.

In another scene, Aruna Irani was seen holding someone’s hand as she made her way to the funeral site, clearly devastated by her husband’s death.

Kuku Kohli was regarded as one of the prominent directors in Hindi cinema. He directed the blockbuster film ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ in 1991, which marked Ajay Devgn’s debut in Bollywood.

He also directed films such as ‘Haqeeqat’, ‘Suhaag’, ‘Julmi’, ‘Anari No. 1’, ‘Ye Dil Aashiqana’, and ‘Wo Tera Naam Tha’. The love story between Kuku Kohli and Aruna Irani remained largely private for many years. Aruna has often shared that their relationship had its ups and downs in the beginning.

She recounted in a television program that they initially had a tumultuous relationship, often arguing on film sets. However, over time, they grew closer, and their friendship blossomed into love. According to Aruna, a humorous incident marked a turning point in their relationship, leading to their eventual marriage.

Kuku Kohli and Aruna Irani married in 1990. However, Kuku was previously married and had children, which is why they kept their relationship private for a long time.

Kuku Kohli’s passing is a significant loss for the Hindi film industry, as it mourns the loss of an experienced director and creative filmmaker. Many in the film community are paying tribute to him and remembering his contributions.
