Jamnagar, June 14: In celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 12 years of leadership, the Jamnagar district Home Guards have initiated a commendable project aimed at environmental conservation and the green revolution.
The Home Guards have successfully created over 12,000 seed balls, sending a strong message for environmental enhancement. These seed balls contain seeds from various tree species, including Saragva, lemon, Kher, Goras, tamarind, Harmo, Banyan, Jamun, Peepal, and Gulmohar.
To produce these seed balls, the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) collaborated by providing black soil and natural cow dung fertilizer. All prepared seed balls will be handed over to the Jamnagar Forest Department, which will plant them in various areas before the monsoon season. This initiative aims to increase green cover and provide a new direction for environmental protection.
Girish Sarvaiya, the Commandant of Jamnagar District Home Guards, stated in an interview that they are participating in the celebration of Prime Minister Modi’s longest tenure, guided by the Gujarat government’s directives and the Home Department’s orders.
He emphasized that the Jamnagar Home Guards will also collaborate with the Forest Department to support PM Modi’s vision for a green revolution. Under this initiative, they are producing 12,000 seed balls within Jamnagar to mark the 12 years of Modi’s governance.
Sarvaiya explained that the seed balls are made by mixing different tree seeds with soil and cow dung, shaped into round forms. These will be provided to the Forest Department for planting in necessary locations before the rains. Once it rains, the seeds will germinate and grow into large trees in the future.
