New Delhi, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan is set to inaugurate the 9th India International Water Week (IIWW) 2026 today in New Delhi. This five-day event will bring together stakeholders from India and around the world to discuss pressing water-related challenges.
Water Resources Minister C.R. Patil will share his insights on “Climate-Resilient Water Management” at the event, which runs from September 22 to 26 at Bharat Mandapam.
The international program aims to unite policymakers, global water leaders, experts, researchers, industry professionals, civil society, and young professionals. Its goal is to foster dialogue, share knowledge, and build partnerships to address emerging water challenges and promote a water-secure and climate-resilient future.
The IIWW 2026 is organized by the Ministry of Water Resources in collaboration with major central ministries, state governments, international organizations, research and academic institutions, industry bodies, development partners, civil society, and private sector stakeholders.
The Netherlands and Germany will participate as partner countries, with 14 states also joining as partner states. Six central ministries and departments have been invited to take part as partner ministries.
The IIWW has emerged as a vital platform for uniting various stakeholders from India and around the world, sharing experiences, showcasing innovations, and strengthening collaboration within the water sector.
The focus of IIWW 2026 will be on climate resilience in water discussions, emphasizing practical, collaborative, and implementable solutions for sustainable water management.
Topics of discussion will include inclusive and equitable water governance, collaboration for better water resource utilization, technology and community roles in water security, the impact of climate-related risks on water, innovative financing models for water infrastructure modernization, sustainable water resource management, and the importance of water for people and the planet.
From September 22 to 25, a four-day international exhibition will showcase innovative technologies, products, and solutions for sustainable and climate-resilient water management.
Additionally, the second International WASH Conference 2026, organized by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, will take place from September 22 to 24. This conference will focus on access to drinking water, sanitation infrastructure, hygiene practices, and public health, emphasizing scalable, affordable, and sustainable solutions. The aim of IIWW 2026 is to translate information and discussions into actionable recommendations, partnerships, and large-scale solutions, enhancing water security and resilience to climate change through integrated policy, financing, technology, and community engagement.
The discussions will conclude with a closing session on September 25, followed by a study tour on September 26.
