Jammu and Kashmir Police Conducts Search Operation Ahead of Amarnath Yatra 2026

Jammu, June 25: Ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (Sanjay-2026), the Jammu and Kashmir Police is on high alert. In this context, a search operation was conducted on Thursday in the RS Pura area, targeting notorious gangsters and drug traffickers.

The police reported that, as part of ongoing efforts to maintain peace, enhance security, and curb antisocial activities, a coordinated search operation (CASO) was carried out on June 24, 2026, between 5 PM and 7:30 PM in sensitive areas under the jurisdiction of the RS Pura police station.

This operation was jointly executed by the RS Pura police station, the 165th Battalion of the BSF, and the 262nd Battalion of the CISF. Multiple locations in the Chakroi area were searched, including residences of individuals with criminal backgrounds, homes in Zora Farm village, an abandoned structure in the village, and areas near a local drain. Similar operations were also conducted in the Baspur Bangla area.

All identified locations were searched in the presence of family members and residents, strictly adhering to legal procedures. No suspicious individuals, prohibited substances, offensive materials, or any inappropriate items were found. The operation concluded peacefully without any incidents.

After the searches, damage-free certificates were obtained from family members and residents of the homes. The police stated that such operations will continue regularly to strengthen security measures and enhance public trust.

To ensure security for the upcoming Sanjay-2026, the police in Anantnag district have implemented a special, coordinated, and technology-based security system called ‘Project Hawk Eye,’ maintaining maximum vigilance.

This project includes drones, CCTV cameras, surveillance equipment, and specially trained commandos monitoring the travel route from key checkpoints.
