Jairam Thakur Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Politicizing NEET Paper Leak Issue

Mandi, June 16: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jairam Thakur, has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of attempting to gain political advantage from the NEET paper leak controversy.

Thakur stated that Gandhi is trying to politicize the issue to corner the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized that the public’s trust in Modi’s leadership remains strong.

In an interview, Thakur remarked that Rahul Gandhi, as the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has made similar statements and allegations in the past. However, the public has not taken his words seriously then, nor do they now.

He pointed out that if Gandhi is raising questions about the NEET paper leak, he should acknowledge that the central government is taking a stringent stance on the matter. The government is actively pursuing strict actions against the culprits, and investigative agencies are continuously working on the case. Those involved will face severe penalties under the law, and no guilty party will be spared.

Thakur also countered Congress by bringing up the issue of paper leaks during the Congress-led government in Rajasthan. He urged Gandhi to clarify why, during the five years of Congress rule, there were 22 paper leak incidents. At that time, the government was led by senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot.

He questioned what actions the Congress government took in those cases and how effective those actions were against the offenders. Thakur also mentioned controversies related to police recruitment processes in Himachal Pradesh, citing allegations of CCTV footage destruction and mass cheating.

He asked whether the CCTV footage was preserved and if a fair investigation was conducted regarding those allegations. Candidates who participated in the recruitment exam also reported serious irregularities.

Recalling the police recruitment paper leak during his tenure, Thakur noted that his government acted swiftly upon receiving information about the leak. He explained that the exam was canceled the very next day after the leak was reported, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, which handed the case over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) within three days. He claimed that the investigation report raised questions about the roles of certain police officials and recommended action against them.

Thakur alleged that the current Sukhu government has rewarded those officials with promotions instead of punishing them. He called on the Congress government to clarify its position and disclose what actions have been taken against the implicated officials.

Thakur concluded by stating that Gandhi’s attempts to politicize the NEET paper leak issue are unjustified. He reiterated that the public has repeatedly rejected Congress leadership and continues to express confidence in Prime Minister Modi’s governance.
