
Lucknow, June 16: In a significant move, authorities in Uttar Pradesh‘s Ghazipur district have initiated action against the accused, Lakhan alias Vikas Singh, under the National Security Act (NSA) in connection with the high-profile Ghamar triple murder case. This action was taken on Monday.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (Rural) Atul Kumar Sonkar reported that on December 24, 2025, Vikky Singh, Saurabh Singh, and Ankit Singh were brutally murdered with sharp weapons near a pond in the Ghamar Patti Khelu Rai area. This triple homicide has shaken the entire region, creating an atmosphere of fear, tension, and insecurity among the residents.
The police have been actively pursuing the case, arresting the main accused, Om Singh, during a police encounter on December 27, 2025. Following this, Aman Singh and Arvind Singh alias Bhadaku were also apprehended and sent to jail after another encounter on January 1. Other suspects, including Abhishek Singh, Amarjeet Singh, Kripendra Shankar Singh alias Neeraj Singh, Shailesh Singh, and Anjani Singh, were also arrested and placed in judicial custody.
According to the ASP, Lakhan alias Vikas Singh was arrested on January 14 and sent to jail, while another suspect, Amit Singh, is currently detained in the Ghazipur district jail.
The ASP noted that the murder case has instilled a sense of fear among traders, women, the elderly, and children in the area, adversely affecting law and order. In response, police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) forces have been deployed continuously to restore safety and confidence among the public.
He stated that considering the actions of the accused and the resulting circumstances, action has been taken against Lakhan under Section 3(2) of the National Security Act to maintain public order and prevent any potential unrest in the future.
