Iran Asserts No Intent to Develop Nuclear Weapons Amid U.S. Tensions
Irans President Masoud Pajeshkian reiterates the countrys stance against nuclear weapons during a biodiversity conference in Yerevan.

Tehran, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Iran’s President Masoud Pajeshkian emphasized on Friday that the country has no intention of developing nuclear weapons, dismissing anti-Iran propaganda as false. His remarks came during a meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili at the biodiversity conference (COP17) in Yerevan, Armenia.
According to a statement released by his office, Pajeshkian stated, “Iran does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, and we consider the destructive propaganda against our nation to be false.” He referenced the clear position of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei regarding the halt on nuclear weapons development.
Pajeshkian expressed that Iran has always been open to dialogue, countering American perceptions that the nation could be forced into submission. “We will not bend to coercion,” he asserted.
He criticized U.S. sanctions as inconsistent with humanitarian principles and condemned recent U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran as unjust and inhumane.
During the same conference, Prime Minister Garibashvili stated that Georgia rejects any form of foreign intervention in the internal affairs of states.
In a separate meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Pajeshkian reiterated that the U.S. must understand that Iran will not surrender. He emphasized that Iran will continue to engage with the world while relying on its people and coordinating with its neighbors.
Pajeshkian warned that U.S. sanctions have created problems for both Iran and the global community, cautioning that if Washington continues down this path, conditions will worsen for everyone.
He called on the U.S. to engage in negotiations based on reasoning rather than force. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump predicted that the conflict with Iran would soon come to an end, linking a resolution to a drop in global energy prices and improvements in the U.S. economy.
Speaking to reporters before departing for a campaign rally in Montana, Trump said, “The situation with Iran will be resolved very soon, and your energy prices will drop rapidly.”
