Sugarcane Farmers Are the Backbone of the Nation, Says UP Minister Sanjay Nishad

UP Minister Sanjay Nishad emphasizes the importance of sugarcane farmers and criticizes the opposition for neglecting certain communities.

Bareilly, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad recently highlighted the vital role of sugarcane farmers in the country’s agricultural landscape. Speaking in Bareilly, he asserted that since the BJP came to power in 2017, the government has prioritized addressing farmers’ issues.

Nishad accused the opposition of seeking votes based on caste while benefiting only select families. He stated that communities like Nishad and Kashyap are still fighting for their constitutional rights.

“The sugarcane farmers are the backbone of our nation and agriculture,” he said. “Before 2017, farmers faced numerous challenges, but our government has worked to alleviate their concerns and solve their problems. Unlike previous administrations, we have made farmers’ welfare a priority and provided them with greater support.”

Criticizing the opposition, Nishad remarked, “Before 2017, they sought votes under the banner of various castes and backward communities, while others faced neglect and inadequate representation. A look at government departments reveals how certain groups were favored, leaving others behind.”

He also pointed out that the opposition has resorted to negative politics. When they were in power, 7.5 lakh jobs were distributed, but only about 75,000 families benefited. “This is a significant injustice,” he added.

Nishad emphasized the historical contributions of the Nishad and Kashyap communities, noting their ancestral battles against Mughal and British rule. He mentioned their role in aiding Lord Ram in crossing rivers.

Despite these contributions, he said, these communities continue to demand their rightful constitutional recognition and representation. While some groups’ children have been classified under the OBC category, others are still awaiting acknowledgment of their rights.
