Anant Singh Clarifies Controversial Statement About Sacrifice of Nine

Bihar MLA Anant Singh addresses backlash over his statement regarding nine deaths linked to his support for Nitish Kumar.

Patna, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Bihar’s JDU MLA Anant Singh is in the spotlight following a statement he made about the deaths of nine individuals and his own gunshot injury while supporting Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Singh has since clarified that his words were misinterpreted and that the media has twisted their meaning. He emphasized that his comments referred to the targeting of his supporters during the rule of Lalu Prasad Yadav after he allied with Kumar.

Singh insisted that his statement was not meant to imply that the nine deaths occurred for Kumar’s benefit. Instead, he explained that when he began supporting Kumar, his followers faced significant backlash. Reflecting on past political events, Singh noted that it was during Yadav’s government that these incidents occurred, resulting in the loss of nine lives and his own injury. He added that these events had a profound impact on his family, leading to his father’s death.

Initially aligned with Lalu Prasad Yadav, Singh transitioned to supporting Nitish Kumar, which he claims led to repercussions for his supporters. He stressed that his remarks were rooted in historical context, not an accusation against Kumar. Singh also challenged JDU leader Neeraj Kumar’s comments about contributions to the party, asserting that his support for Kumar came at a personal cost and without financial gain. He questioned what sacrifices Kumar had made for the party.

Addressing rumors of discontent within JDU, Singh affirmed his commitment to the party and his support for Kumar. He ruled out any intention to leave the party and expressed a desire to voice his concerns within party meetings. Singh stated he has requested an opportunity to discuss his role and worries, insisting that if the party no longer needs him, he would like that to be made clear.
