New Delhi, August 10: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of enhancing domestic scientific and technical capabilities during the 46th anniversary of Jihad-e-Daneshgahi (Academic Jihad) on Sunday. He highlighted the need for investment in new technologies and opportunities for young talents to decrease the country’s reliance on oil and gas.
According to a report by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), President Pezeshkian stated that maximizing the use of domestic scientific and technical capabilities is essential for Iran’s development and progress.
Jihad-e-Daneshgahi is a public non-profit organization focused on research and training in areas such as defense, industrial self-sufficiency, food security, and employment.
The report from IRNA noted that President Pezeshkian asserted that developing the necessary technical infrastructure would enable Iran’s talented youth and scientists to pave the way for the country’s advancement. This would also assist Iran in reducing its dependency on oil and gas resources.
He identified investment in new technologies as one of Iran’s most critical needs, asserting that it would lead to self-sufficiency across various sectors. Furthermore, it would prevent adversarial nations from hindering Iran’s progress through illegal sanctions and pressure.
Pezeshkian called for scientists and forward-thinking individuals to tackle challenges and issues. He urged the Iranian public to trust in the youth to ensure that no obstacles impede the nation’s progress.
According to IRNA, Pezeshkian paid tribute to the founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, and the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. He also expressed gratitude to Ali Larijani and other martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Iran’s security and dignity.
The president mentioned the assassinations of scientists and attacks on Iran’s critical scientific and research centers by the United States and Israel. He stated that the enemies aimed to target Iran’s capabilities and those contributing to solving the country’s problems.
Pezeshkian announced that his government is ready to collaborate on the technical projects of Jihad-e-Daneshgahi. He invited the organization’s scientists and experts to discuss their challenges and share suggestions with the government.
At the end of the ceremony, Pezeshkian awarded the ‘National Jihad-e-Daneshgahi Award’ to the family of martyr Ali Larijani, honoring his lifelong contributions to the development of various sectors in Iran.
