IPL 2026: Vaibhav Suryavanshi Ends Sudarshans Reign, Bhuvneshwar Retains Purple Cap

New Delhi, May 28: In a thrilling eliminator match of IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals (RR) showcased an impressive performance, defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 47 runs. The star of RR’s victory was Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who delivered a spectacular innings of 97 runs off just 29 balls.

The 15-year-old batsman not only led his team to victory but also claimed the Orange Cap, dethroning Sai Sudarshan. Throughout the tournament, Vaibhav has scored 680 runs in 15 matches, averaging 45 with a strike rate of 242. Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans’ opener Sudarshan has slipped to second place with 652 runs. In the eliminator match, SRH’s wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen managed only 18 runs, placing him third among the season’s top scorers with 624 runs.

Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill ranks fourth with 618 runs from 14 matches, while SRH’s Ishan Kishan is fifth with 602 runs in 15 matches. Virat Kohli follows closely in sixth place with 600 runs, and KL Rahul is seventh with 593 runs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continues to hold the Purple Cap, having taken 26 wickets at an average of 18.15 across 15 matches. Kagiso Rabada from Gujarat Titans is in second place with 26 wickets, while Jofra Archer has 24 wickets, placing him third. Anshul Kamboj from Chennai Super Kings ranks fourth with 21 wickets, and SRH’s Ishan Malinga rounds out the top five with 20 wickets.

In Wednesday’s eliminator, Rajasthan Royals batted first, scoring 243 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Vaibhav and Dhruv Jurel contributed with half-centuries. However, in pursuit of the massive target of 244 runs, the entire SRH team was bowled out for 196 runs in just 19.2 overs.
