
New Delhi, May 30: In an exhilarating second qualifier match of IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans (GT) triumphed over Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 7 wickets. The outstanding performances by Vaibhav Suryaanshi, Sai Sudharsan, and Shubman Gill have intensified the race for the Orange Cap. Meanwhile, Kagiso Rabada has secured the Purple Cap.
Vaibhav Suryaanshi showcased exceptional batting skills, scoring 96 runs off 47 balls. With this innings, he has successfully retained the Orange Cap. The 15-year-old finished the season with an impressive total of 776 runs at a strike rate of 237 across 16 matches. Shubman Gill, who played a crucial role in GT’s victory, has now climbed to second place in the Orange Cap race.
Gill delivered a remarkable performance against RR, scoring 104 runs off 53 balls. He has accumulated 722 runs in 15 matches this season. His opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, ranks third with 710 runs from 16 matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen is fourth with 624 runs in 15 matches, while Ishan Kishan rounds out the top five with 602 runs.
In the bowling department, Kagiso Rabada has dethroned Bhuvneshwar Kumar to claim the Purple Cap. Rabada took 2 wickets in the second qualifier, bringing his total to 28 wickets this season. Bhuvneshwar now sits in second place with 26 wickets from 15 matches.
Rajasthan Royals‘ fast bowler Jofra Archer is third with 25 wickets, while Anshul Kamboj from Chennai Super Kings is fourth with 21 wickets in 14 matches. Ishan Malinga from Sunrisers Hyderabad rounds out the top five with 20 wickets. The IPL 2026 final will take place on Sunday between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
