Chinese Astronauts Complete Three Months in Space on Shenzhou-23 Mission

Beijing, August 24: The Shenzhou-23 manned spacecraft was launched by China on May 24 of this year. The astronaut crew includes Chu Yangchu, Chang Qiyuan, and Li Chaying. These three astronauts are now nearing the completion of three months in space. During this period, they have successfully conducted numerous planned experiments related to space science.

As part of their experimental agenda, the astronauts have performed online maintenance and replaced experimental samples in the control cabinet. They also completed the cleaning and replacement of samples in the containerless cabinet experimental chamber. Additionally, they maintained the electrodes of the axial mechanism and cleaned the lens of the observation window cover. The team also changed gas cylinders in the combustion science experimental cabinet and completed the vacuuming and expulsion of waste gases.

Moreover, the astronauts monitored microorganisms aboard the space station. They collected samples from various mediums, including cabin gas, surfaces, and the water system, to test for microbial growth. This research aids in assessing the growth conditions of microorganisms and provides essential information for their control in orbit.

In the realm of health management, the astronauts executed projects such as overall visual performance measurement and non-invasive cardiac function testing. These tests are crucial for researchers to monitor the health of astronauts during extended stays in space.
