Iran Warns Nations Against Joining US Economic Pressure Campaign

Tehran, August 24: Iran has issued a warning to neighboring countries and others, urging them not to participate in the United States’ “economic pressure campaign” against the nation. An Iranian official made it clear that Tehran would consider such countries as “enemies.”

Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, stated in an interview with state-run IRIB TV that Iran would first engage in dialogue with those countries involved and appeal to them not to partake in America’s “economic war” against Iran.

He emphasized that if these nations continue their involvement, Iran would target their interests. Rezaei also mentioned that if regional countries support the US pressure campaign, Tehran would not allow oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.

According to a report by Xinhua News Agency, Rezaei added that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed until the US fulfills its commitments under the peace agreement (MoU) reached between Tehran and Washington in June.

These statements followed US President Donald Trump’s announcement of implementing the “harshest economic campaign” against any country that provides a lifeline to Iran. Trump posted on Truth Social, stating, “This will be an unprecedented level of economic warfare and isolation.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asserted that the US economic campaign against Iran would fail, similar to its previous coercive measures.

Zarif posted on social media platform X, “Fourteen years ago, the ‘harshest sanctions in history’ failed; eight years ago, ‘maximum pressure’ failed; five months ago, ‘unconditional surrender’ failed; today, the ‘harshest economic campaign’ is also destined to fail.”

Earlier, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that the US is exerting more pressure on Iran under the guise of “economic warfare,” which he views as an attempt to conceal Washington’s past failures.

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, Gharibabadi mentioned in a social media post that while the US claims Iran is “on the brink of collapse,” it is reaching out to all its allies for assistance.
