New Delhi, April 2: Brad Haddin, the assistant coach of Punjab Kings, has provided a significant update regarding captain Shreyas Iyer’s injury. Haddin confirmed that Iyer does not have a fracture in his wrist. However, he mentioned that there is still some swelling present. The coach expressed hope that Iyer will be fit to play in the match against Chennai Super Kings on April 3.
According to ‘Cricbuzz’, the assistant coach stated that the absence of a fracture means Iyer could take the field against Chennai Super Kings. Iyer sustained the injury during a match against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday while chasing a target of 163 runs.
While standing at the non-striker’s end, Iyer was struck on the wrist by a powerful shot from Cooper Connolly. The impact was so severe that Iyer was seen writhing in pain. Despite receiving treatment on the field, he returned to bat but was dismissed for 18 runs on the very next ball.
