Bilaspur, April 10: In a significant operation, police in Bilaspur seized a large sum of cash under suspicious circumstances. Meanwhile, Amit Baghel, the president of the Johar Chhattisgarh Party, received a major relief from the High Court in a separate case.
On April 8, a joint operation by the Belgahna police and the Anti-Corruption Cell Unit (ACCU) led to the discovery of approximately ₹17.90 lakh in cash from an individual.
According to reports, the police were on patrol and conducting checks when they received information about a person acting suspiciously near the Tegnamada railway station, carrying two suitcases and a backpack.
Upon arrival, the police detained the individual for questioning. He identified himself as Pawan Bajaj, a 35-year-old resident of Kashyap Colony, Old Bus Stand, Bilaspur.
During the search, authorities found a total of 81 bundles of new notes in denominations of ₹10, ₹20, and ₹50, amounting to approximately ₹17.90 lakh. The police have seized the money, considering it suspicious, and investigations into its source are ongoing.
The Belgahna police and ACCU played a crucial role in this operation.
In a different development, Amit Baghel was granted interim bail by the Chhattisgarh High Court concerning 14 FIRs filed against him. The court approved a three-month interim bail, with conditions that he must not reside in Raipur during this period, allowing him only to appear in court.
These cases were reportedly filed following a press statement in which Baghel allegedly made comments about a particular community.
After hearing both sides, the court delivered this important decision.
