Odisha, MP, UP, and Jharkhand Secure Semifinal Spots in Sub Junior Womens National Hockey Championship

Ranchi, April 10: The 16th Hockey India Sub Junior Women’s National Championship 2026 reached an exciting stage as Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand secured their places in the semifinals held at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh International Astro-Turf Stadium in Ranchi.

In the first quarterfinal, the Hockey Association of Odisha delivered a stunning performance, defeating Hockey Maharashtra 8-1. Priyanka Minj showcased her exceptional skills, scoring four goals at the 8th, 26th, 41st, and 54th minutes. Princess Priya Ekka (20th, 42nd minutes), Sweety Kujur (26th minute), and Kiran Ekka (38th minute) also contributed to Odisha’s impressive tally, while Anvi Rawat (60th minute) scored the lone goal for Hockey Maharashtra.

The second quarterfinal saw Hockey Madhya Pradesh triumph over Hockey Mizoram with a score of 5-1. Captain Naushin Naz made headlines with a hat-trick, scoring at the 12th, 24th, and 42nd minutes. Nammi Geetashree (2nd minute) and Bhabar Kesar (21st minute) also found the net for the winners. Mizoram’s captain, Laldinpui, managed to score a consolation goal in the 53rd minute.

In a tightly contested third quarterfinal, Uttar Pradesh Hockey edged out Hockey Haryana 2-1. Arika Kumari opened the scoring for Uttar Pradesh in the 21st minute. Radhika from Hockey Haryana equalized in the 50th minute, but just four minutes later, Rashi Singh secured the victory for Uttar Pradesh with a goal in the 54th minute.

The final quarterfinal featured the host team, Hockey Jharkhand, who defeated Hockey Punjab 2-0. Pushpa Manjhi (35th minute) and Sandipa Kumari (53rd minute) scored for Jharkhand. The semifinals scheduled for Friday will see the Hockey Association of Odisha face Hockey Madhya Pradesh, while Hockey Jharkhand will take on Uttar Pradesh Hockey. All four teams are eager to secure a spot in the finals.
