La Liga: Coach Arbeloa Defends Players Ahead of Girona Clash

Madrid, April 10: Real Madrid’s head coach, Álvaro Arbeloa, defended his players on Friday ahead of their La Liga match against Girona. He emphasized the importance of consistent performance as the team faces the challenge after back-to-back 2-1 defeats against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Mallorca in the league.

Due to these losses, Real Madrid now trails Barcelona by seven points, with eight matches remaining in the season. When asked about the potential impact of another defeat on their title chances, Arbeloa stated, “The players understand that every match is crucial, and there is little room for error.”

Despite an important European fixture next week, the coach insisted that the team’s focus remains solely on the upcoming match. According to Arbeloa, “The players want to play first and foremost, as they know Tuesday’s result was not what we hoped for. I have spoken to most of them, and they want to play and gift a victory to the fans.”

Arbeloa dismissed claims of a lack of commitment within the team. He added, “Having a good attitude and dedication in life is essential. All these players are among the best in the world, but if we want to perform consistently, talent alone is not enough.”

The coach also backed midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who has faced scrutiny over his recent performances. Arbeloa confirmed, “He has played a lot under me and will be in the starting lineup tomorrow. He is a key player for the club and has proven his capabilities. Everyone at the club, including the coaching staff, has complete trust in him.”

Arbeloa confirmed changes in the lineup, with Jude Bellingham and Éder Militão expected to return. However, Ferland Mendy will remain sidelined due to a muscle injury. Girona comes into this match after a victory over Villarreal, but their top scorer, Vladislav Vanat, will miss out due to a hamstring injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season. With the title race reaching a critical juncture, Real Madrid will aim to bounce back and keep their hopes alive.
