IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans Secure Victory Over KKR, Shubman Gill Claims Orange Cap

Ahmedabad, April 18: The losing streak for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) continues in IPL 2026. In a match held at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium on Friday, KKR faced a 5-wicket defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT). This marked KKR’s fifth loss in six matches this season, while GT celebrated their third victory in five matches.

Following the match between GT and KKR, the points table saw some changes. Let’s take a look at GT’s new position and the status of other teams.

Punjab Kings currently hold the top spot with 9 points from 5 matches. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) follows in second place with 8 points from 5 matches, while Rajasthan Royals also have 8 points but sit in third place due to net run rate. GT is now in fourth place with 6 points from 5 matches, and Sunrisers Hyderabad rounds out the top five with 4 points from 5 matches.

Delhi Capitals are in sixth place with 4 points from 4 matches, followed by Lucknow Super Giants and Chennai Super Kings, both with 4 points from 5 matches, in seventh and eighth places respectively. Mumbai Indians are ninth with just 2 points from 5 matches, and KKR sits at the bottom in tenth place with only 1 point from 6 matches.

KKR’s sole point came from a rain-affected match against Punjab Kings. The team is still searching for their first win of the season.

Despite having the same points, the rankings among the teams differ due to their net run rates.

After the GT-KKR match, Shubman Gill has taken the Orange Cap with 251 runs in 4 innings across 4 matches. Meanwhile, GT’s fast bowler Prasidh Krishna holds the Purple Cap with 11 wickets in 5 matches.
