International Aristotle-Confucius Symposium to Be Held in Varanasi from November 2 to 4

The Aristotle-Confucius Symposium in Varanasi aims to foster dialogue among global philosophical traditions from November 2-4, 2026.

Varanasi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : An international symposium titled the “Aristotle-Confucius Symposium 2026” is set to take place in Varanasi from November 2 to 4. This event aims to promote dialogue among the world’s major philosophical and civilizational traditions. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the conference, while Dr. Preeti Adani, founder and chairperson of the Adani Foundation, will also address the gathering.

The symposium will bring together various knowledge traditions, educational institutions, thinkers, and experts. It will incorporate modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to foster dialogue and mutual understanding between diverse cultures and philosophies.

In his keynote address, Chief Minister Adityanath will highlight India’s rich civilizational heritage, which spans over 5,000 years, emphasizing the continuous tradition of Hinduism, commonly referred to as Sanatan Dharma. Dr. Adani is scheduled to deliver her special address on the morning of November 2.

Officials noted that Varanasi was chosen for this event due to its status as one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. Situated on the banks of the Ganges, this city has been a center for education, philosophy, spiritual contemplation, and pilgrimage traditions for centuries. It uniquely embodies the confluence of three major knowledge traditions: Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.

An official statement indicated that the conference is based on the premise that the significant challenges facing the world today—such as geopolitical tensions, environmental crises, and technological changes—cannot be resolved solely through technical solutions. Instead, they require strong moral values and improved understanding among various cultures.

The symposium will feature extensive discussions on the similarities and differences among philosophical traditions, including those of Aristotle, Confucius, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Catholicism, and Islam. Topics such as virtue-based ethics, good governance, and the ethical use of power will be prominently addressed.

Moreover, the conference aims to connect ancient wisdom with contemporary global challenges. It will utilize emerging technologies, particularly AI-based language and communication tools, to facilitate dialogue across different languages and traditions.

Main sessions of the conference will occur on November 2 and 3, featuring expert lectures, thematic discussions, and debates on comparative philosophy, global governance, and peace. The final day, November 4, will be dedicated to cultural excursions and visits to heritage sites.

Participants will have the opportunity to closely experience Varanasi’s cultural and spiritual heritage. The program includes visits to the Ganges ghats, participation in the Ganga Aarti, tours of significant temples, and a trip to Sarnath. Organizers believe that this symposium will extend beyond intellectual discussions, offering attendees a tangible experience of India’s vibrant cultural legacy.
