Delhi Police Rescues Kidnapped Boy and Arrests Abductor

Delhi Police successfully rescued a kidnapped boy and arrested his abductor, recovering ransom money and the vehicle used in the crime.

New Delhi, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : The Jyoti Nagar police station in New Delhi has successfully resolved a kidnapping case, arresting the suspect and safely rescuing a 13-year-old boy. Authorities recovered ₹5,000 in ransom, a mobile phone, and the scooter used in the abduction.

On October 30, at approximately 7:14 PM, the police received a report about the boy’s kidnapping. The complainant stated that his son had gone out to buy some items but did not return. Shortly after, the family received a call from an unknown individual demanding a ransom of ₹40,000 for the boy’s safe return.

In response, Assistant Sub-Inspector Gajraj Singh and Head Constable Amit Tomar arrived at the scene in East Delhi’s Gokalpur area to initiate necessary actions. An FIR was registered at the Jyoti Nagar police station, and a special team was formed under the supervision of ACP Tanveer Ashraf to apprehend the suspect and recover the child.

The team quickly launched an intensive investigation, gathering technical evidence and analyzing CCTV footage from nearby areas to locate the kidnapped boy and identify the perpetrators.

During the investigation, the kidnapper contacted the complainant again to reiterate the ransom demand. To trace the suspect, the police kept him engaged in discussions about the ransom payment. Instead of cash, the kidnapper insisted on receiving the money via UPI and shared a barcode for the transaction. Subsequently, ₹5,000 was transferred from a police officer‘s account to this UPI barcode.

Through technical surveillance, the police traced the suspect to a cyber cafe in the Karawal Nagar area. The cafe, operated by Sunil Saini, reported that a young man, approximately 21-22 years old, had visited the cafe with a minor. The suspect had used the barcode to receive the ₹5,000 for a commission of ₹50.

The police quickly reviewed the cafe’s CCTV footage, allowing the complainant to identify his kidnapped son. To confirm the suspect’s identity, another transaction of ₹5,000 was made using the same UPI barcode. Shortly after, the kidnapper returned to the cyber cafe with the kidnapped boy to collect the ransom in cash.

With the cafe owner’s assistance and the identification of the suspect, the police acted swiftly to apprehend him. The suspect was identified as Akash, a 22-year-old resident of Loni, Uttar Pradesh. Authorities reported that he had previously worked as a delivery helper in the Sadar Bazaar area and knew the victim through a cousin. He allegedly lured the boy onto his scooter and later called the victim’s mother demanding ransom.
